Suite 1061, Grand Velas Riveria Maya.
The Hotel: Grand Velas Riviera Maya, on the outskirts of Playa del Carmen, Mexico
The Room: Here we have Suite 1061, located on the ground floor in the “Grand Class” wing of this exquisite oceanfront resort… The hotel has 491 suites total, but this exclusive wing, which is strictly off-limits to children, houses only 89 suites, each measuring about 1,400 square feet. Every suite includes a terrace with a shallow wading pool and oversized swiveling chaise. The king-size beds are sublime. The showers are big enough to park a car inside of, and there’s a complimentary tequila bar just inside the front door that’s restocked daily with fresh shot glasses, limes and salt. There’s also an espresso machine, iPod dock, Wifi and 42-inch plasma TV. The resort is all-inclusive, but here’s the kicker: The food is truly spectacular—especially at the Mexican and Spanish restaurants. So, this is that rare all-inclusive where you really won’t want to leave the resort to go find a better place to eat.
The View: Suite 1061 (and every room in this wing, in fact) offers an unobstructed view just like this one of the sugary white beach and turquoise water of the Caribbean Sea in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
The Details: This suite starts at $1,280 per night, all-inclusive, based on double occupancy (from $960 single occupancy), all meals, taxes and gratuities included; other rooms start at $760, double occupancy ($570 single). 866-230-7221, rivieramaya.grandvelas.com
